Vet students spending time in practice to gain valuable experience
EMS (Extra-mural Studies) is the time that vet students spend in practice gaining valuable experience.
We don't have any structured EMS but we are willing for students to come along and learn. We will try to offer as much hands on experience as possible and we are more than willing to teach, however this does depend on the diary!! You will see a range of animals and cases, typical of rural mixed practice depending on the time of year.
Large animal work from March through to mid May is particularly busy with a lot of lambing and calving, dehorning and castrating. In general July and August are quieter months, though emergencies happen at all times of year! During the Spring there may also be opportunities to see equine fertility work with Richard.
If you would like to come along please email, including a brief CV and description of what you would like to see/do, or contact us during Office Hours.
